This book grants rare access to the notebook pages and other visual materials used by more than twenty artists, filmmakers, writers, and other creative people in the exploration and creation of their work.

All loosely constituting a form of note taking; from actual notebooks to a blizzard of post-it notes to chalkboards to the marks recorded  on the walls of a sculptor's studio after casting his work. The materials and their creative methods are illustrated with several hundred photographs and drawings, with accompanying contextual material on the creative processes of these individual masters. The text components vary from subject to subject, in some cases being a profile by a curator or collaborator, in some cases an interview with the subject, in some cases text directly from the person themselves.

Including essays by Lucy R. Leppard, Marvin J. Taylor, David Frankel, Lawrence Rinder, Yoshio Suzuki, Caroline Tisdall, David Vaughn & Jeremy Dawson.
