Based on Paper: The Marzona Collection - Revolution in Art 1960-1975

Egidio Marzona's intensive experience with contemporary art forms the basis for his encyclopaedic collecting activity, which started in the mid-1960s and continues to the present day. The book illustrates how drawings, collages, artists' publications, invitation cards and posters in both American and European art, ranging from Minimal Art to Land Art, suddenly took on a new meaning.

Marzona's collection, held at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, primarily consists of works of American and European Conceptual art, Minimal Art, Land Art and Arte Povera. This selection of the most important works on paper - drawings, printed ephemera and artists' books from the collection features key American and European works, as well as all sorts of related studies and ephemera.

The editors, Michael Lailach and Andzeas Schalhorn, regard these works on paper as an essential component of a 'revolution in art' that took place around 1970.
