Published to accompany the exhibition at Minneapolis Institute of Arts featuring work by 28 international artists including Thomas Demand, Ai Weiwei, Mark Dion, Sharon Lockhart, Jonathan Monk, Trevor Paglen, Mary Temple and Vik Muniz. The book features essays and profiles of all participating artists.
As viewers of the 'Colbert Report' know, we are living in an age of 'truthiness' - where things we wish to be true are preferred to things that are known to be true. More Real? features an international contingent of contemporary artists whose work most aptly represents this modern conundrum in a variety of ways, from trompe l'oeil to digital manipulation.
A series of scholarly, entertaining and generously illustrated essays approach the concept of reality from a variety of perspectives: science and technology; the role of the cinema; the 'parafictional' in art; diaspora artists from the Middle East; and historical trends from the Age of Reason to our current state. In an age when the relationship between truth and fiction has never been murkier, More Real? explores our constantly changing sense of what is real, and the consequences of not understanding the difference.

Lovely books at a great price, delivered really quickly and very well packaged.
I haven't used this book yet, but as a novice oil painter, it will be very helpful in learning techniques used by the masters, albeit quite basic approaches and styles. It gives step-by-step guidance via illustrated tutorials, basic information such as equipment and the colours to use in each exercise areprovided. What could possibly go wrong?
This is a comprehensive overview of works of art from earliest times until the late 20th century. It's immediately accessible to read and engaging. My only grumble is that many of the photos are small and in black and white. The text and the works themselves merit better treatment, but that would make this already weighty tome unmanageable and prohibitively expensive. I'm very pleased with this book and will enjoy it.
A lovely book, found by chance and given as a gift.
Bought as Present and they loved its unique format
Fascinating and good comparative text and images.
Excellent book, in depth text and plates that I haven't seen before, perfect!
Great book about the man of 60s music
Beautiful book - made a great gift. Thank you x
I bought to wrap up presents but it somehow felt wrong to cut up these wonderful graphic designs!
Great. Rapidio!
Another great read
A great read
