Sir Peter Blake (b.1932) is often described as the father of Pop Art. His paintings, collages and prints hang in major museums throughout the world, but, in the true spirit of Pop, his design work can also be found in the humblest home. Since his early student days at Gravesend, where he was taught by Enid Marx, he has designed posters, magazine covers, calendars, record sleeves and book jackets.

Blake studied painting at the Royal College of Art in the 1950s and went on to create such works as Self-Portrait with Badges and The Toy Shop. His enamelled tin multiple, Babe Rainbow, and the record sleeve for Sgt Pepper, designed with his then wife, Jann Haworth, remain among the most potent icons of the 'swinging sixties. 

The ACC Design series highlight designers working across illustration, book design, graphic design and corporate identity. Although they may not be household names, their designs became ubiquitous elements of twentieth century visual culture and continue to influence new generations of designers, illustrators and artists today.

The series was winner of the Brand/Series Identity category at the British Book Design and Production Awards 2009.
