Exhibition catalogue from Sophie Tottie’s mid-career exhibition at Liljevalchs konsthall, Stockholm.
Swedish artist Sophie Tottie (b.1964) makes drawings, wall paintings, videos and photographs. Often of an existential nature, her subjects relate to political or historical contexts, and play with graphic interfaces, abstract sign systems, images, symbols and scripts.
Tottie’s art revolves around existential questions relating to philosophy and politics, the history of science and atomic physics, reason and speculation. In her work, she moves freely between various media including painting, drawing, video, photography and objects.
