When Tom Breihan launched his Stereogum column in early 2018, "The Number Ones" - a space in which he has been writing about every #1 hit in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, in chronological order - he figured he'd post capsule-size reviews for each song. But there was so much more to uncover. The column has taken on a life of its own, sparking online debate and occasional death threats.
The Billboard Hot 100 began in 1958, and after four years of posting the column, Breihan is still in the early aughts. But readers no longer have to wait for his brilliant synthesis of what the history of #1s has meant to music and our culture. In The Number Ones, Breihan writes about twenty pivotal #1s throughout chart history, revealing a remarkably fluid and connected story of music that is as entertaining as it is enlightening.
The Numbers Ones features the greatest pop artists of all time, from the Brill Building songwriters to the Beatles and the Beach Boys; from Motown to Michael Jackson, Prince, and Mariah Carey; and from the digital revolution to the K-pop system. Breihan also ponders great artists who have never hit the top spot, like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and James Brown. Breihan illuminates what makes indelible ear candy across the decades-including dance crazes, recording innovations, television phenomena, disco, AOR, MTV, rap, compact discs, mp3s, social media, memes, and much more-leaving readers to wonder what could possibly happen next.

I have bought and will continue to buy this book as often as I can.
As a man much wittier than I said of Les Coleman and his work, "Les is More."
Indeed we all agree that he was.
Such a wonderful collection of title from across the arts and culture spectrum. I absolutely love that you offer books that delve into the niches of the art world, limited run artist led publishing, artists practicing away from the mainstream and so on. The prices are a bonus, and the quick service is outstanding! I for one will keep coming back. Thank you!!!
Such a beautiful book for the price
I've cut the sketchbooks open to give me A3 sheets. Love the colours
Top service
Does exactly what it says on the title.
Was looking for quite a niche book and it was a decent price and came quickly. Can't fault the service

Well packaged, arrived quickly, very pleased
Well packaged, arrived quickly, very pleased with books.
I love this book. It's very readable, informative and well written, covering one of the most exciting and revolutionary periods of art history. The author includes glimpses of how the artists' early work fared at auction and the public's reaction to the new art movements in exhibitions.
Well all I can say after my experience is what a great site and service, ordered my first set of books, and through my own mistake they were sent back, this is where they truly shone, having been in touch with them, they helped me quickly get them sent back out, I added more books to the order, they arrived with-in 2 days, perfect condition, perfect delivery. Very very happy.
Would I use again. Very very much so, yes you can buy books anywhere. BUT, would you get the service if there’s an issue. I can’t fault the way they dealt with my issue , even if it was caused by myself. All the books were pristine. A+
I love Books About Art so much I feel conflicted about reviewing them. I have told friends and they are similarly addicted to a thoughtfully curated, wide ranging selection of books that cover all kinds of culture and always arrive promptly, as described. Just don't tell anyone I said so.
Excellent book, well worth the money and in excellent condition. Delivered early than I expected can't fault this company never let's you down, thank you.
